Forest Hills has a new Mexican restaurant and bar to check out.
Azul Agave Mexican Cuisine & Bar is now in its soft-opening phase at 884 Forest Hill Ave SE, taking over the former Marco New American Bistro space.
The location is the second Azul Agave restaurant from owner Maricela Melendez, who also operates the original Azul Agave in Wayland and El Burrito Feliz in Saugatuck.
Azul Agave expands into Forest Hills
The Forest Hills location had been on GRNO’s restaurant-opening radar through local permit and food-license activity, but the biggest update is that customers are now actually being served.
Current reporting says the restaurant is NOW OPEN!
The restaurant occupies the former Marco New American Bistro building, giving Azul Agave a substantial established restaurant space in the Forest Hills area.
Mexican favorites, margaritas and a full bar
A separate menu for the new location had not been posted publicly as of Sept. 21, but the Wayland Azul Agave menu offers a large selection of Mexican dishes including street tacos, enchiladas, burritos, fajitas, tamales, chimichangas, seafood dishes and vegetarian options.
The bar is also a major part of the concept, with tequila, margaritas, cocktails and Mexican beer.
That combination makes this more than a small neighborhood takeout opening — it is a full-service restaurant and bar entering one of the Grand Rapids area’s stronger dining corridors.
